Our History

In 1917, our family opened the first Sutherlands in Durant, Oklahoma. Today, HomeBase represents more than 100 years of expertise in helping homeowners, farmers, construction companies, property managers and industrious individuals of all types build, fix and improve the spaces and structures that matter to them.

We've also learned a few things over the years! Among them, the conviction that quality and value are expectations, not slogans. That's why, in 2010, we began envisioning HomeBase, a unique retail experience to serve a wide variety of customers and communities.

In 2017, 100 years after our family opened its first store, we opened the first HomeBase location in Copperas Cove, Texas. Today, we have nine HomeBase locations, across five states.

At the heart of each HomeBase store is a dedicated team focused on quality, value and service. That's why we stock top brands like Stihl, Benjamin Moore, Kohler, Yeti, Bad Boy Mowers, and Milwaukee tools. We currently have HomeBase stores in Lubbock, Amarillo, Copperas Cove, Plainview, and Mineral Wells, Texas; Alexandria, Louisiana; Ottawa, Kansas; Nevada, Missouri, and Laramie, Wyoming. Every HomeBase store is staffed by trained team members, many of whom have decades of experience in the home improvement industry.
